I felt only the mildest twinge of confusion and panic as Kai picked me up but I was too far gone asleep to care.
In my dreams, I was back wandering in the woods, searching for help. The world was slowly getting darker and darker then a wolf came into view. They were hurt and scarred yet still quite young. I stepped forward, squinting to get a look at the wolf when it came all too clear. Ailes, she was staring back at me but she didn't seem as shocked or delighted as I was. She was dirty and scarred and one of her legs looked broken but her gaze was fixed on me. She stared at me with a cold, dead look then the landscape went black, and I could see nothing....
I awoke with a small yelp and saw that I was still being carried. I struggled a little at first, my memories still clearing from my sleep. Once I could remember, I settled down again but though about my dream. Did it mean anything? Was she alive? Or was this just a cruel joke my mind was playing on me? I sighed and watched the ground go by.
